I like the concept here. Perhaps a lower angle and a white balance correction would help. Also, put the board against the wall, that way, the shadow pieces would look like they are on the board and look like the black pieces. |

I like the idea but the focus could be better. An extra point for the humorous title ;-) |

The white balance looks to be off a bit, they seems to be yellow. The picture does look to be a bit noisey as well. I do like the idea. |

Seems to obvious for the original WR. Maybe he is playing a trick. However, the grain looks familiar. |

Good idea but the lighting and focus seems a bit off to me. |

Okay, great idea but a few things to help this shot out. Bump up your aperture a stop or two to get everything in focus. OR stop it down and focus on the tip of the queen to get the other rooks just out of focus to draw your eye right to your main subject.
Now overall this shot has a really yellow and unattractive tone or "cast" to it. You can easily correct this with curves or the equivalent white balance adjustment with what ever software you are using. Also you can adjust this with most cameras by changing your white balance setting or your auto settings to tungsten or fluorescent. This will help eliminate this yellow cast.
Good eye and this shot meets the challenge well. |

I'm thinking the white balance could have been adjusted here, unless you were going for yellow. |
