I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the laser trail wasn't even necessary! :) When I first look at this image I thought woah cool! But what's that red trail?!? What I saw was a miniature bomb stuck inside a martini olive!! Take a bite and go boom! Which would definately fit the James Bond "gadgety" feel of the films. Using the laser for the red glow of the olive would ensure it met the challenge, and eliminate the need for having to edit-in a "laser trail".
But I digress, this comment comes over a year after the challenge. :) |

I am sorry that I have hurt your feelings. It was only my intention to encourage photography and discourage the inclination of digital art on this site. After viewing your other photographs, I must tell you that you seem to have a good base in photography that I, personally, would like to see shine here on DPC.
Please accept my apology for being harsh. I will post this as well under your photograph.
Best Regards,
Karen

As a new member to DPC ,I am genuinley amazed at the stardard of pictures that are created within the time limits that are set.
Your picture is visually pleasing and works as a ''piece of art''.
The none photographic elements appear to upset the 'photograph' purists and detract from the quality of your work.I cannot go along with that point of view.As amatuer piccy takers we all have kit that we could only dream of 5 or 10 years ago. How we expand the use of our equipment ,continuely pushing boundries mean that there are no limits on the quality of work that can be produced.
Great work!! |

Well, I guess you got me... and a bunch of others. I know you stated that 'most people won't be happy to hear this' about adding elements to your photograph that weren't there. I think I feel a bit let down that this is actually closer to digital art than photography. Is it a great image? Yes. Is it a great "Photograph"... ... ... ? |

Congrats on 4th place. This is a nice image. I just feel that it is outside the spirit of of the rules that govern the member's challenges. It is 'legal' by the wording of the rules. It is also against the spirit of 'photograph integrity' as described in the rules. You used photoshop to add an element to this image that was not part of the original photograph. There is no 'painting with light' here so you sorta missed the point of the challenge. You didn't learn to effectively use the technique. :) - Just my opinion, of course...

Interesting image, but I would have prefrerred just seeing the oilve pit lit up the way you have it now, but without that red tracer. |

Very clever, and looks like an '80s Martini ad. I love the composition (how the corner balances with the olive is particularly good), the colors are great, and it is just plain excellent all-round. The more I look the more I like |

Just superb composition. This is one of the very few that looks totally professionally done. The monotone blue with just touch of red is really great design. The photo is almost abstract - the shapes form harmony. I could go on and on, but simply put, this is one great photo. |

Love the setup and styling of this shot. Not quite sure how it was done, looking forward to the set up details. Looks almost like a computer render, very nice! |

I believe Bond prefers a lemon peel over an olive in his martinis, but nicely done just the same. |

This is realy great shot. Sharp and good tonal balance. I dont know how you have brought this red line into your pic but it makes somthing for it and expecially how it brakes at edge of the glass plate |

now this is cool. sort of along the lines of something i wanted to do--but of course, didn't get around to it. :)
the photographing of glass with colored lights is some of my favorite photography; and this has an art deco/pop art feel to it--very simplistic, yet makes a statement. i love the vivid blue with the splashs of red--even the black shadows are perfect. very cool composition, as well. great work, and well done. 10. |

very cool. great use of simple colors. I like the way the laser pointer path refracts in the glass table and the way you lit the red pimento. very creative! 10 |

Wow, nice angle!
The red streak leads the eye from the bottom left corner to the olive! Very nice indeed! Nothing bad can be said about this pic! - 9 |
