Two of my great-nieces, Raegan (left) and Jaidyn (right). They are both about 16 months old, and they are just the sweetest little things. I talked their grandma (my sister) into letting me spend the afternoon taking pictures of them in butterfly wings I found on clearance at a toy store last month. I just love the shots I got and can't wait to print them for their moms (my nieces...one is my sister's daughter and one is my sister's daughter-in-law).

I used several layers, including gaussian blur, gradient mapping, and a lot of tedious cloning and erasing. I love the finished effect.

I am sure there will be comments about the diapers, the strings on the back of the wings, and about the background, but this is what we had to work with so I ran with it. :)

Oh Laurie!!! This is magical! And what a beautiful story to go with it. This will be treasured forever -- long after a wings challenge will be long forgotten!

This is a creative idea but i just wish we could see the joy and excitement in their faces instead of seeing parts of it.

Great capture. Although I'm a bit undecided about the desaturation, I find it a bit distracting.

Very Sweet, great idea. I just wish the masking was a little neater as I can see where the coloured bits are bleeding into the black and white areas.

Love the editing! Reminds me of those pictures (I can't remember what they're called, but the kids always have a rose & their selective desaturation....anyway). I really like it, the little smile is very cute.

bumbping up because it's not a bird. Could have done with a bit more contrast.

Beautiful shot. Love the selective desaturation. Great composition. I think if the back wasn't so busy, with a slight better location to shoot from this would have been top 5. Still top 10 IMO.
