I don't know if I'll get voted down by the DNMC-ers or not on this, but I do know that if there's one thing more than any other without a fallback option it is the unconditional love of which humans are capable. I've been struggling with a nasty case of unrequited love for a while and it seemed appropriate.

Converted to b&w from RAW, curves, USM, resized.

Very evocative, minimalist, but still very expressive - excellent!

I am lost with this one. Hope it does well, but to me it doesn't reach out and grab hold of the viewers attention. Off centered subject, side light all work well, but just doesn't get hold of me. Sorry 6

It's always difficult to simulate something from a portrait expression, especially it's the "risk" that this theme is looking for. I just don't see what's the risk.

This picture would make no sense without the title, looking like a guy thinking, crying, praying, peeking, or something. Good placement in the frame, but I'd like to see his right shoulder. It appears his face is noisy, but I think that's just his complexion.

I like this push of the challenge. A bit more contrast might be more dramatic.
