Thanks for all the votes and comments. I feel a little sense of redemption from my DQd image for the Speed challenge which was doing so well before it died of a sudden death.

This is a single capture image taken just before sunset in Pebble Beach, CA. I only used advance editing techniques. Nothing expert here at all. The place itself is already so enchanting. My work required me to go to San Francisco so I took the opportunity to do the PCH drive. I drove 14 hours from Los Angeles to get to this spot. I was of course stopping on every bend in Big Sur because the view is just stunning! This tree is probably the most photographed tree in California, if not in the whole United States. To think that this tree has been standing on this rock for 250 years, it's simply amazing!

Here's a few more of my favorite shots during that trip.

Special thanks to my team captain scarbrd for helping me choose the image for this challenge.

Thanks again! :)

Beautiful shot with wonderful lighting.

Be careful about trying to sell this shot as someone suggested. This tree has been registered as a trademark by Pebble Beach and as I understand it, they are very aggressive in protecting the trademark.

Cloud-line just took the attantion from the horrizon and throw it into garbage for this shot. If horizon would be strait, I bet picture would look scewed because of the cloud line ;)

Fantastic capture of an often-photographed scene, such luminosity and tranquility! I lived in Carmel for 4 years, and explored the big Sur coast extensively for 15 years. It's my favorite place in the world and this makes me homesick for it :-) Congrats!

Ah the wonderful west coast! Excellent shot and treatment. Didn't go overboard with the hdr look and/or photo adjustments. The bottom right greens looks a tad overaly bright than the rest of the greens and that does make it one of the focal points. The moon must've forced you to shoot wide, as it's a wonderful scene. Only nitpick , perhaps cloning out the branches sticking out around mid frame, near the right edge there?
A very easy and impulsive 9 from me :)

p.s. I only know of 4 DPC members which shoot around the area and would like to be surprised ;)

Not really diggin the soft focus look on some areas of the photo, too much dodge/burn? Nice shot other than that, like the colors especially.

Oh - my - gosh!!!! The lighting, the color tones and the composition is perfect! Love the colors, the sweep of the rock hill that leads up to the lone cypress, the ripples of the water, the clouds drifting along the sky, and that wonderful capture of the full moon in the far left corner. An excellent job all around. There is no advice to offer for you to improve on the image - it is exceptionally beautiful and enchanting. Great job - I expect to see this in the top 5.

HDR? Not sure if it is, but it looks like it. If it is, I DO like it. I haven't been able to get a good HDR image yet. If you used another technique, be sure to PM with some details. 9
