your picture is poorly framed (shore-line through birds neck). |

I classify this as a double negative space. The WOW really comes out with the right size and story. Nice photo. 10 |

I like the shapes caused by the reflection but find the reflected head too close to edge of frame. 7, Kavey |

Great shot! Green grass in the background would have been nicer. (Could you go plant some and return in a year?) Is this on the 1/3 line? Really, I don't see anything I would change to improve this shot. Staying with the 9. Swash |

This is a nicely done shot. A comment I made on a few others, which I'll do here too, is that I really like the fact that you didn't try to do something with one plain, empty background because while the space is "negative" it's not effective. Your framing of the water and shore really good and since the Egret (?) is about the same color as the shore it pulls the eye down through the photo to follow the reflection. Really nice. Score: 9 Courtenay |

Good use of negative space - nice tones. Pity there were ripples in the water around the reflection of the head. |

Very nice bird shot. Close ups aren't always necessary to a good shot and you have proved that. |

That water doesn't look deep, but it is cool how it reflects like that. I like this one. 8 |

Good idea. Photo may have video artifacts, or may be oversharpened. |

Composition: nice but I think a different crop would have made it better perhaps portrait rather than landscape 6 Lighting: good 5, Appeal: 6, Total Rating 6 Sulamk

I like how he's not centered, rather off center. The reflection is so clear. I definately see the use of neg. space. The focus and clarity are really nice. The angle and framing are excelent. The only thing that stands out right away is the meeting place of the water to the dirt. It appears crooked, like it has a left tilt to it. I do understand that there are other factors that make something appear crooked when actually it isn't. I think that one of those factors applies here becuase the bird is standing straight. What I think has happened, is that the water line is in fact curved, or rounded, and that's what happened. Overall, this is a really great use of neg. space. Good luck in the challenge. ~hbunch7187~ |

Great combination of composition, colour blending and reflection. This is a worthy challengerâ€Â¦ Only gripe relates to space at the top of the shot, perhaps cropping the subject closer to the topmost area may have improved the picture. Small gripe, and I'm not even sure if that would help anywayâ€Â¦ (9) |

Nice reflection, nice photo. It's a shame that it wasn't possible to eliminate the ground so that only the bird and the water remained. (You probably know this already.) However, at tleast the ground (sand?) colour ties in well with the bird. |
