great combination - and the colors are so natural together straight through to the background green - I can only imagne what is on your system with the bug highlighted! sgtpepper6344

Personally, I don't understand your definition of negative space, but I am truly interested in hearing it. As a picture, this is an awesome shot. You have good detail, and the dof is awesome. What exactly is the bug on, anyway? karmat

Background too strong to really count as negative space, it's almost more positive than the lady bird which I assume is the intended positive.
Beautiful photo though and would rate higher from me in more appropriate challenge.
I appreciate this comment is according to my own definitions of neg space and your mileage may vary.

interesting picutre, but bug gets ost on the bumps...opposite of what I perceive as the challenge.

Who said negative space had to be clear space? You have a good eye to spot this photograph. Well done.

i dont like the bug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seems a bit too full for negative space ...

Id crop a little tighter at the bottom, as the colours are fading and focus going down there.

Perfect exsample of negative space

Cute. What's it crawling on? They look like a bunch of little bugs without spots. Good DOF. 5

wonderful colors and clarity.

But what is the negative space here? The picture seems filled with positive subject matter. 3 Jak.

But then I thought about it some more and, yes, the seeds are clearly negative space if the ladybug is the desired subject. However, in this case,t he negative space is too positive to accentuate the bug in any way. Nice idea though once I'd thought it through. 5 Jak

Well the bug has got the neg space concept anyways. But I'm not judging on neg space since no one has it- sooo this is a nice photo anyways. Lovely colors, nice focus, bug makes good contrast.

nice and sharp

sorry, in my opinion, this does not qualify as a negative space photo, the whole photo is filled up with the tree fruit (?) that the bug is sitting on. as for the photo itself, the bug is easy to overlook w/out the title, i do like the fruits though. can't wait to see what they actually are, never seen them in real life. oh, and it's not a ladybug (unless they look quite differently where you are from where i am), but i don't know what the right name is, either. -- gr8photos.

Interesting shot.......Kind of looks like popcorn. I think the lady bugs color is off...maybe flat. Still fun shot. Score 6 Justine

Very cool ladybug. But where's the "negative"?
09/16/2002 11:41:00 AM
a very good macro but is it negative space--help--6bobgaither

There is absolutely no negative space in this picture. The background is WAY too busy for that!
09/16/2002 07:16:00 AM
Nice picture. 7 another week, 4 this week, sorry I do not see the negative space use.
09/16/2002 02:15:00 AM
up: Sharp subject. Creative. Down: Background too closely matches subject in shape and size, and makes it hard to differentiate.

This is a nice photo of a ladybug :) If the rest of the image besides the lady bug is the 'negative space' element, it is competing very hard for attention with the ladybug... - jmsetzler
