Meet the challenge? Anyone that has ever had a toddler will say, "YES!" Everywhere I go, everything I do, my 2yo is right beside me -- and I LOVE IT!!

I set the camera up, put the timer on, got my son in my lap and told him to set really still (hahah -- that's why his hand is a little out of focus). I was having to guess at the composition, and would've like having the whole pen in the shot, but I could see in the viewfinder, hold him, and take the picture all.
Post-processing -- I cloned out some of the background, because it was distracting. Adjusted the contrast and white balance a touch, and used NeatImage.

Also have a version in b/w, but the color one seemed to have more "depth."

I like the idea ... this looks a liitle over-sharpened though -- I think a little softer look would work here.

Wow, man you blew my mind now. Really witty and original, I was getting so bored of people taking pictures of themselves in the bloody snow that I was about to go to bed. Great, a big hug to the little shadow, God bless you two.

I thought this was really cute, how'd you get your two year old to sit still for the shot, I can never get mine to sit still, nice shot.

Very interesting interpretation of the challenge! At first I didn't like it, but this time the title helps to create the feel of the shot. Some technical points. You have some jaggies on the diaginal line from the big hand to the left. This appears to be over sharpened. The round thing in the bacground is very distracting since the diaginal line takes your eye there. And to nit pick a little, the small line eminating from the childs pen is a minor point that could be fixed with advanced editing rules.

You get definate bonus points for originality here that override the small technical issues. Great shot! Hope the little one got a nice treat for holding so still!

Great idea and very precious. Good composition. I like your lighting, also.
One improvement, in my opinion, would be to clone the object in the upper l/h corner out of the photo.

This is nice and to think you got your 2 yr old to sit still, long enough to take the picture.

I was thinking of this concept with a cat, but I erred on the side of caution and decided to go for really shadow. Well do though!

very creative and very well done.

:) This is the idea I was hoping to see here! I knew SOMEONE would break the physical shadow mould and do something touching with it. Wonderful!

(As a suggestion, I'd have tried to clear out the background before shooting. The white object in the upper left is a bit distracting and seems out of place.)

I really like the idea on this.

I think the compisition could be better. There is a lot of grain. And I think it'd be a better photograph if the DoF was smaller, and the background was blurred, as well as the foreground, making it more intimate.

But that's just my opinion. I gave the photograph a 5 though, mostly for the idea.
