Wow... I LOVE Hearst Castle! How lucky were you to be able to enter this into Architecture! I have a similar picture of this, but it was when I had a really bad camera and knew nothing of photography. Yours is MUCH better :) |

Responses to various comments: Yes, this a real full-sized place. It is a swimming pool that is in a fairly dark room, with a small part lit by the skylights. There's just an astounding amount of detail in the room as a whole, so the photo actually does represent a study of a small set of details. At this resolution, the tiles used for the mosaic are about the same size as the pixels at 640x480; the higher resolution shots look a fair bit sharper. Sorry about the tilt; I was leaning strangely to get the perspective right, and I missed the horizontal. You can read more about Hearst Castle at //www.hearstcastle.org/. |

Nice reflections. It seems like it's a miniature model though? |

I couldn't figure out what was bothering me about this shot, then I realized you had the camera slightly rotated. It makes it look sloppy, which is unfortunate, it's a good picture otherwise. |

great subject matter but too much going on for me. a detail of one of these areas (sun bouncing in to backlight the platform, the mosaics in the water, etc) would have been a much stronger composition. |

I like the colors. The mosaic is great, hopefully people don't mistake it for compression artifacts |

When I first saw this I thought it was the pool at my country place, after reading the title I realized it's that copycat Hearsts' place. Great colors, mesmerizing ! |

this place looks really amazing, but i don't think this photo does it justice. maybe a wider angle would work better. |

a very pretty location, but the brights are a bit washed out and the balance is off |

Love the gold on blue colors. Your pix is only 97k (only 2/3 of the file size limit). Wish you could have kept the other 1/3, would have kept much more detail. Overall, the pix make you feel like you are in the presence of aristocracy. |
