I spent an hour in the candy aisle thinking up this idea and am quite happy with how it turned out.

The best part of the shoot was, of course, sharing the chocolatey goodness afterwards with everyone who helped me set it up.

Critique Club feedback -

This is a nice entry that meets the challenge well. Looks like you spent a good bit of time laying out your 'props' with an eye for detail, and it paid off.

The composition is interesting, though I find all the leading lines keep moving my eye quickly past the plate and on to that coffee cup.

The lighting is good, though the processing appears to have pulled the image back towards the dark side of things overall and the contrast is also slightly heavy.

Again, its the attention to detail that really sets this shot apart. The sprinkles on the milk, the placing of the strawberry - really great. About the only thing missing here is a salt shaker full of chocolate powder and I think I'd be licking my screen!

Life is short - eat dessert first! I like the idea, but it seems a bit dark (my CRT monitor is calibrated).

That is my kind of dinner! Very nicely executed, so which utensil is the candy utensil?

the idea is great. to be a real good shot, IMHO you would need to reduce the picture to the essentials. THe way it is, it's too busy. May bejust showing the plate with a fork pushed into a praline,...remove all the other silvcerware, glas, cup. focus on what's important

very solid still life - good lighting - interesting details - but I almost think there is just a little too many items - Are you having coffee or the after dinner drink? Do you need all the flatware when it is dessert?

Great scene, lighting is a little dark for my taste but could be this monitor...
Great job.

I think a little more light on the subject would help. Maybe an off white or neutral plate and cup.

Yummy! The flatware seems like it could have been shinny instead of dulling the image. I understand you might not want the distraction either.

Nice set up! The lighting is a little flat - I would have liked it to POP a little more.
