 I love this image and have deja vu'd it as well as I could.
I hope Jacko likes it (and the voters ;-).

I was primarily interested on getting exactly the refractions in exactly the splash shape as Jacko.
However, I decided to place the splash on a black square of the board rather than a white square (as he did) because the colour contrast was better.
Jacko definitely has the better ripples but I did a lot of splashes trying to come as close as possible to his splash and, in the end, decided that the splash was more important than the ripples (believe me, I tried to get both ;-)
One of the things I like about my splash is the “folded” base. For me, it makes the splash look like a real chess piece (as DigitalSoul noticed.)

I totally never would have guessed this was you! I find that just dropping by occasionally and looking in the top 20 is enough to see what you've been up to. Nice work!

Wow, nice details on this capture. Love the 'tower' created from the drop - and the top portions mirror the checkerboard pattern with sharp clarity. Great job on emulating the original. My only critique is that the black and white tones don't appear as crisp in tone that they could be...contrast appears a tad flat. Perhaps playing around with bringing up the brightness & contrast will make the tones visually pop even more.

I prefer your angle, but like the larger ripple in his. Yours is much sharper, though. If I had to hang one on my wall, it would be yours.
