Aw, that's a GOOD dog, not a negative dog. |

I'm being straight forward - NOT to offend. I think I understand what you were going for, but I don't think it works for this. The goal is to use the neg space to emphasize the subject. In this case, the neg space does not do that, in fact I think it takes away from the subject. The dog is beautiful, the colors in the photo are also great. I'm not getting a wow...I think, ok, there's a dog...I'm not getting any feeling - I think there is tooo much neg space. Using neg space to emphasize the subject, does not necessarily mean use a lot of neg space, sometimes the smallest amount of neg space will create a larger impact for the subject. What is it about the neg space that you are trying to use to bring out the subject? Is it the green of the grass and the contrast to the dog? What would it look like at a different angle--like placing the camera on the ground... please do not misinterpret my comment - I'm just being honest and trying to be helpful. Ruthann |

I am giving the dog a ten and the photo a six....... the title means everything to this picture....... certianly the space around the dog is negative but not necessarily in a visually interesting way....... |

there needs to be a little more definition in the dog, perhaps taking it later in the day would help. good composition. |

This is very expensive negative space, and it needs upkeeping ! I use the sky and it's free. Sorry for being facetious, but I must admit that your lovely lawn caught my attention more than the nice dog (it's not a Belgian sheperp is it ? The traits point to it but the colours don't). I'm saying this probably because my lawn looks like c***.... But then, it's got nothing to do with the issue here so 6. |

That's a beautiful dog :) The lawn makes a good negative space around the dog also. I think what is missing in this image is the connection between the negative space and the subject. How does the negative space enhance your subject or link to it? = 6 - jmsetzler |

I think you may have gone overboard with the negative space here |
