 Photo was taken at CSU Pueblo, CO. I took about 50 pics and this seemed to be the best one.
-adjust the hue and saturation
-cropped for rule of thirds
-sharpened

Great use of negative space. Your DOF and the use of negative space takes my mind beyond the photo to think about the environment of this plant and not just the plant itself.

oh ok now we're talking ! I was worried about this challenge once I started voting. This shows a great use of DOF, rich colors, clarity, compositon, use of negative space and most of all...not some snapshot !

The background vegetation is blurred, but the sky dominates so much of the picture, and it really doesn't show whether it is in or out of focus.

I like the use of the expanse of sky to express the emptiness of the landscape.

Seems like there should be more of the background as ground instead of sky. Still a nice shot.

Very nice composition - I love the blue sky. This would be highly appropriate for advertising with all of that lovely blue text space. Perhaps a big high-contrast for my taste, but overall very nice.
