 I went to my friend Todd's house and asked him to get out "Dee". Beautiful old horse thats been around forever. I was trying to get some shots of him walking her, but she was not havin it. She was getting bit up and was getting kind of frustrated, so when he went to calm her down, I got some shots of him doing so. Thought they turned out pretty nice and liked the way the sky looked with the sunset behind him. This was my first time shooting a Silhouette and found it very fun, as I do most the challenges. I would have loved to clone out the plane streak in the sky, but under basic, no can do. Other than that, I really like how it turned out. Would love to hear from everyone to get their opinion on the shot.

Adjustments:
Shot in Raw.
Sharpened, Curves, Saturated
In JPEG
Brightness & Contrast, Selective Color to bring out the sky
Curves, Crop, Resize, Neat Image, Resize again, Add Black Border, Save for Web.

Holy Blue Ribbon Batman. New PB, 1st Ribbon, I'm on vacation, can life get any better? I sumbit that it can not. I had to lay very low in the hay field to get this angle and the horizon look due to lots of trees in the distance. I got destroyed by all the mosquitoes, but I think it was worth it now. :) Really could not believe how many liked the streak in the sky. At first I had wished I could clone it out, but more and more people said how much they loved it. I was glad it was Basic then, so I didn't have the chance to take it out. Thanks for all the comments and votes. MUCH thanks to Larus for taking the time to answer all my photography questions, and to De Sousa for his editing tips.

You know - looking back, it's like the cowboy is looking at the streak of light, and it could presage a Heavenly encounter, or be a shooting star, or something with a spiritual connection, so that the lateness of the day, and the darkening, are shot through by the promise of the light to come.

What a marvellous co-incidence (except I don't think there are that many co-incidences, rather connections, and this is such an connection)

congratulations on your first ribbon. the shot would be much the worse for cloning out the 'plane streak. that adds interest to the composition that would be sorely lacking otherwise. now it's a beautiful shot that grabs our imagination, without, it's just another pretty sunset shot.

First - congrats on your BLUE! That is totally awesome!!

The photo is so completely outstanding - colors, clarity, subject, composition - all perfect. The plane actually looks like a shooting star. Until I read your notes, I thought that's what it was. Awesome!!

I've no words to express my happyness when I saw you at the first page.
You deserved this cause you have been working hard and this wonderful photograph shows that a good photographer is made of two things. A good eye for composition and the capacity to work hard to improve his skills. Congrats dude! I knew this was going to happen ;)

I insist that UFO makes the shot. Just try covering it with your thumb and you'll see a completely "different" photo. So we're all fortunate this run under BE rules!! :-)

first I found the white streak distracting but then it brought me back to the cowboy. love the interaction with the horse, gave it a 10, this time comment only

whatever that flying object is, advancing in the oposite direction respec to to the horse, makes this shot more interesting to look at...7
