Some water driping down in front of a Jim Beam bottle. Acctually I'm not a big Whisky fan. I have to see what to do with the content :)
It took me some 600 images or so to get it right. The droplets are so fast, that it is very hard to capture more then one. I had to make a white "house" for the setup otherwise the drop would show the room. I used a bouncing flash to get the right light.

Postprocessing: rotation, very slight cropping, tonal balance adjustment, spotediting somereflextion and darks spots in the drops, smart sharpening, Gaussian blur, resize, smart sharpening

Greetings from the critique club.
THis is a really fine image. Not too much to critique here!

Actually the more I look at this, I have no suggestions for improvement.

Congrats on 4th place.

Thanx to all voters and especially all of the plenty commenters to make the image 4th place!
Making the image was a hard job, but more for the shutter due to the many images that needed to be taken to get nice drops.
I once did this with a wine bottle in 2002 with my A40

Acctually the A40 worked better for this job.

I allways wanted to redo this and this challenge came just right.
Here's the original. It is only rotated and reduced in size:

And here are some outtakes:

The dropletts are sometimes not round because they vibrate when the are large enough.

And finaly the setup I used:

Most important is a good control of the water flow. But fortuanetely I'm a chemist:)

So thanx again to all of you,

Jörg

Nice freeze frame technique. The capture of the single drop is very effective. 8 -danny

Unique concept and exceptionally well done. Like the water drop technique this uses refraction within a water drop to create a sharp reversed image but this has to be much harder to capture this way. Kudos to you for this wonderful image.

This should be a top finisher in this challenge

I predict this will ribbon and probably win, although that isn't a very hard prediction to make. Of course this image is striking because it's a waterdrop image, but the thing that I like the best is the symmetry as well as the bottle at the bottom of the image.

I was going to suggest having the bottle in the background flipped around so it appears upright in the waterdrop; but after thinking about it, I like this the way it is. I like how the water at the top is white against the orange and how the upright label in the background is recognizable because it's upright. Of course that's my opinion, others may feel differently. Nice work and contratulations!

OMG! WOW! What a capture. You must have spent DAYS trying to get this right. You know you have a winner here don't you? By the way, it looks pretty interesting when flipped upside down.
