 Clear skies and high altitude made this shot anywhere near possible... the rest is in the ISO 3200, the 30sec exposure and me running around with a flash trying to get the 4 needed flashes fired within the time limit on a low battery/slow refresh rate!

It isnt a nice clean shot but i´m hoping people will like it as it isnt something you see everyday ;)

Post Challenge:

Someone mentioned that they wanted to know where this was taken. Over the past 3 months i have been in Peru. This was taken from the courtyard of the converted stable house i was living in as a volunteer. That day it rained during the day and then in the night completely cleared, so you can imagine the clarity of the sky being at around 1,600m and in the countryside with no pollution/light pollution.

After looking again, i agree with the comments about the foreground. It was the only interesting forground around i could find to take the shot, but maybe it was a bit too bright :( I thought i might do better, but maybe that was the downfall.

The strong lighting on the building detracts from the image - to me. I really like the starfield though - very cool to look at.

The sky is fabulous - it looks like something taken through a telescope, but the intensity of the stars doesn't match the amount of light in the foreground.

I love how you can see so many stars in the sky, and the lighting from below is really nice. I think I would have preferred the photo with just a bit more of the top cropped off, but that is my only critique. Very pretty.

high coolness factor on being somewhere that will get the milky way to look like a deep space nebula. the foreground kills it for me though.

Like a painting, all the way down to the fence and trees; great use of available lighting and good technical choices (composition, exposure, etc.)
