This is an image of pictographs that were excavated as they put in 'Well's Dam' on the Columbia River. They saved a very, tiny part of the pictographs and locked them in jail! At least they saved some of the glorious artwork.

I took this on the drive to the nearest city which is 2 hours away. I bought a p/s camera for my daughter's 18th birthday on Sunday.

I thought you might like to look at these pictographs. I have other images I'll post of the river and the damn dam.
I call it that because as we all know...dams aren't that healthy for rivers. This dam helps generates electricty.

It is really unfortunate that only a small piece of the artwork was salvaged. I could look at this stuff all day.

Edit: As I was closing the picture the background colors caught my eye. They match the rock so well. Very pleasing to the eye even with the "jail" cell.

That looks really neat, it's good to see they preserved some of it at least. Thanks for sharing!

Those are amazing - has anybody dated or interpreted them?

Very nice pictographs, too bad they must be caged! Here in New Mexico we have lots of petroglyphs, they are pretty interesting too.

Thanks for all the background info. I suppose if people weren't such jerks, the rock wouldn't have to be put in a cage. Awesome images on it.

Reminds me of the rock art I saw in Sweden, but they didn't put in a cage (although they covered some parts to protect it from the weather).
