This is Tycho, 10 year old inside only female. She and her sister were our only two babies for nine years; my girls, my boyfriend and I were a very happy little family. Then we moved here and I turned into the crazy cat lady of Polvadera :-) My boyfriend has been SOOOOO tolerant but Tycho has still not forgiven me!

PP:
- crop
- duplicate background layer & apply LucisArt Whyeth at 25%
- select background, copy selection to layer, apply Gaussian blur
- channel mixer to convert to b&w
- clone out clock on wall and some other areas burnt out by sunlight
- patch area on paw and nose that were burnt a bit to bring fur detail back
- copy left eye to new layer set blend mode to screen to brighten eye (sharpen tool a bit too)
- decide I can't tolerate the busy background so burn the heck out of it and right side of Tycho's face so is in deep shadow, to the point of overdoing it probably :-)
- convert to grayscale then duotone using some pinkish color and black
- flatten layers
- duplicate layer and apply Virtual Photographer Ambience filter & set layer opacity to 39%(thanks for the tip on Virtual Photographer Judy jutilda, I'm having a ball with it!!!)
- resize
- save for web

For those who are interested in before and after, here's the original ugly image

I love this! The lighting is so, so beautiful. And incredible job with the editing... I really love the sepia tones, but I also wonder how this might look if you could have somehow kept those blue colors. The delicacy of the tones and the clarity of the light is lovely.

It truly does look like Tycho is hiding out from the kittens. The picture has kind of a spying feel to it.

Thanks for showing the before and after -- what a difference! Beautiful duotone. I have so much to learn! Btw, I feel like a parrot saying "pretty kitty" so often, but what else is there to say? :-)

Well, the original isn't ugly. . .but what an amazing transformation. The processing on this really turns ordinary into WOW!

Your boyfriend is the bomb! We only have one cat, and my husband. . .well. . .I'll just say he can't get his mind around my loving our cat. He's a good sport about it, but if I had a bajillion of them. . .I think I might have the cats and not the husband :)

I love the look you're getting!! And that's some seriously amazing post processing. I suppose I need more filters.... yeah, that's the ticket to getting rid of beige... Oh, and a cat. I need to find a cat...
