I fully expect this to squick people...to hell with it. I took it on purpose (not for dpc).

How I did it:

Red material draped over subject (who is kneeling and wearing a collar and handcuffs).
Lit from behind the subject.
Selected the metal portions of the photo.
Inverted selection and applied a 40ish gausian blur.

Soft focus and abstract concept will not give you high numbers with DPC voters. Interesting idea, but you will need to keep trying.

I took some time to absorb this image. I like it but unsure how it fits the challenge.

The choice is yours. "Turn or burn", as they say. But maybe I misunderstand...

Visually odd. The technique is somehow distracting - whatever that is at or around your neck appears pasted in. I'm not saying I think you did something illegal, I'm saying that whatever you did to process this image created the same effect as a bad paste, and that mars the overall image for me.

my brain cannot identify what the more in focus piece of this photo is. i'm actually anxious to find out what this is.
