 My son's hermit crab, I spent three days shooting, accidently left him to rome the house one night, but he must be in constant motion because it was tough to get a clear shot, this is one of the best ones, then having to control glare on his shell, was hard. I set up the background, with the tank on its side to get a non glass shot. One of the most frustrating shots I've taken!

Creativity=1 Cool subject, you should macro this guys head so it looks like a pic of an alien and dont tell people what it is of ;)

Focus=1 If you use a longer lense you can get more focus depth.

Contrast=1.5
Lighting=0.5 Try using a thin piece of white cloth to screen and soften light.
