Challenge: The Four Elements (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Kodak DC4800
Location: My kitchen

THE SHOOT: Made a bowl of ice, dug a hole in the bottom. Dipped some cosmetic remover pads in "fondue fuel" (which accounts for the blue flame) and placed the pads in the hole. I lit the whole thing up. The bowl was placed on a black cloth. The room was mostly dark with a desk lamp lighting the bottom of the ice bowl.

THE DIGITAL DARKROOM: Adjusted brightness and contrast, ran through Neat image to get rid of the graininess in the flame, cropped, resized and sharpened.

Voilà!

I had fun shooting this, 'cours we had to keep water nearby but hey!

Thanks Rob!
I really enjoyed this challenge as it was my first challenge after 2 years of leave from dpc.
I'm not sure I'll be doing the fire challenge, since I'm in the middle of midterms right now.

Thank you though, really makes me feel better to know someone liked it enough to take a minute and comment afterwards.

THis was one my only ten in the the challenge so I am real surprised that it did not do better. I found this image extremely fascinating and hope you might think of trying it again for the fire challenge, unless, of course you have some other great idea for same. Like this very much as an abstract and would like to see what you might get with further experimentation. Great job! RoB

THis needs to be bigger so we can see what's going on. the crop should be a little tighter too so there is minimal bare black space in the composition. Great subject for a macro tho
