 The shoot: colored pencil, 3 cd's one that was clear. Desk lamp. really high tech stuff.. *wink*

The digital darkroom: resized and sharpened.

I wanted to show 3d as well as a flat surface.
The pencils were nice but they seem to pop out a little more this way, well to me anyways.

I knew going in that it was too smooth for most people though.
I predicted a 4 and I got 5,2... not bad. There's still hope for "smoothness" *chuckles*

Edit: Oh yes, to everyone who asked about the title, I knew this was too smooth going in. I could have come up with something that would have explained the photo, but I wanted it to stand on it's own.

Deserved to finish much higher....looks like people noticed colour more than texture....Great image though.

Neat image - I like the colors. The very white reflection in the foreground disk is distracting to me, but otherwise, very nice!

Nice colors, beautiful composition. I really can´t see any texture here. The pencils has it and CD too, but you shoot only for colors. You do a great job, despite of all, I like this picture, but can vote it high against my judge about challenge theme.

Good capture of smoothness - good process of colour and light through the frame. Perhaps its appeal lies more in the colour than the texture - do you think it would have worked in B&W? That wouldn't remove the texture, would it ...
