Aperture: 3.5

Shutter: 1/90

Just a simple close-up of a birch tree. I thought the natural black and whites the bark creates would make for great contrast, and the nob projecting out makes a great focal point.

Most of the picture is out of focus

The crop seems a bit too narrow. Maybe a bit more room on the left would help.

Unsharp I'm afraid, could be much better.

focus is too narrow, too much detail is fuzzy!

Quite indistinct. No real sense of directness of light, and therefore of texture - what appears to be your subject is relegated to the lower mid-tones, and a lot of detail is therefore lost.

Not much interesting going on in this photo, especially at focal point where the viewer's eyes are drawn because of selective focus. Look deeper for subjects with greater visual interest, texture, patterns, etc. Geez, I sound like a Chinese fortunate cookie!!! Keep pluggin' away! :)

This looks slightly out of focus. Composition is decent.

Too out of focus for a macro.

not very nice - think it needs closer focusing and more depth

I would like to see this with the bottom soft focus section cropped off. It doesn't really add much to the photo, and it's such a large part of the photo that it is kind of distracting from the main subject in my opinion. I think your focus on the dark part of the tree is good, and it definately shows some interesting textures. ~Heather~

The DOF is a little too shallow I think. The dark parts of the image look a little underexposed, because of that a lot of the detail of the texture is lost.

I would have liked this better with more DOF. I do like the black and white, and I see the texture presented. I just don't find the shot particularly interesting.

This light is not helping to reveal textures, lateral 45 or 90 degrees is the better way to reveal it.
