 A mostly dead and, I thought, spooky birch tree. Had to shoot with a large dog tied to me (that's a story)!

pp: rotate, desat, brightness/contrast, healing tool to remove stray twigs, crop, warming filter, sepia filter, resize, save for web. Dang forgot rto usm! Oh well!

I like the toning - though I think it's more creepy than spooky if that makes sense. But what you should have shot is the dog tied to the tree. :-) (Your notes made me laugh!)

This shot seems to lack some contrast and the highlights seems a bit blownout.

Seems to be slightly overexposed. But your composition is nice.

Branches are quite burnt out and have lost their detail. Having said that, at the top of the image this works well against the very dark branches against the neutrally toned sky. However, towards the bottom of the image,the sky is lighter and there are less dark branches and so looks a bit washed out. Perhaps if the gradient of the sky was reversed, light to dark, top to bottom respectively, then I think this would have worked better

Potential - but, the bright areas are too hot or overexposed and all detail is lost. For a shot like this tere must be detail to provide interest.
