This is a photo I have always wanted to take, as it belongs to my childhood days, in my hometown of Maryborough, (The Heritage City).

It is an old general store, called "Brennan & Geraghty's, in Lennox Street, which opened in 1871 and closed in 1972".

The amazing thing is that the doors were closed with everything intact. The shelves were full of stock and is still today exactly the same as when the owner closed the shop for good.

I was amazed to see the small bottles of spices still with the contents inside. Origional prepacked toilet paper, Lux soap, and Arnotts biscuits.

Today the store is opened to the public to view, as the National Trust has taken it over for it heritage site.

Enjoy.....

Shez, this is a nice image. To make it pop a bit more, I'd suggest increasing the contrast so the whites and blacks get in there. Also, I might try cropping out the bright door on the right, which keeps distracting me. That's pull the Havelock shelf out of the center, too.

What a very cool story to accompany this picture! You really did a great job creating that old time sense with your toning. And how very nice that they've preserved the place, too.

Lovely shot Shez, it has such warm tones that really suit your subject.

Nice find; looks like an interesting place to explore. Sepia is perfect for this.

Great classic feel to the shot. Composition works nice as well. Perfect tone for the setting.

Good idea for a duotone challenge, to make an image that looks "old". It has a bit of a "muddied" look to it though, not sure why. As a composition it is good, but there really isn't that much of interest for the casual viewer. In other words, it doens't "WOW" the DPC audience. Hope that helps. -6

The sepia choice is perfect for this image. It almost feels like 1862.
