The colours are beautiful - isn't it incredible how wide a colour palette can be created by oxidation? |

I like the rust colors and textures. The composition is good, but I'd like it better upside down (I know that's not reality, but I think it balances better that way). |

Interesting choice of subject for this challenge, certainly. There's an odd sensation of there being a lack of detail in this, though close inspection reveals that there is no significant processing or pixelation going on: I think it's to do with the light you've chosen. This has the feel of a very uniform light, like an overcast day when there are no real shadows: something more directional, even if it were soft, would bring out the texture of the rust more - would produce those small shadows that the eye percieves as texture. Here, you have good work on tones and shapes, but little feel of the quality of those surfaces. I also find this a touch random compositionally. |

Thats a great photo. Looks like some kind of an old acme lead screw going into a part, maybe a vise or something. Great colors, and well ....... texture : ) 9 |

I'm a fan of rust anyhow, but this is extraordinary. Great take on the Challenge and nicely photographed. |

Nice shot, the colors are great. I don't think this a winner but definetly one that would place in the top 20% or so. A lot better than mine I could tell you that! |
