The starter image wasn't very good quality, though I liked the composition of it - the lone man walking on the beach.

I processed the photo with Lucis Exposure, USM, contrast, sharpen.

Then I layered with the underwater filter from SJCarter:

I used about a 40% opacity on it. I erased the filter off of the man and some of the sand in front of him

Then I layered on the sand filter - taken from the same beach:

Used the overlay blending mode on it and increased contrast. I did a wee bit of erasing on the man again.

Still not satisfied, I added some waves in overlay mode:

I increased cyan, green and blue on the wave layer. Saved it and slept on it.

This morning, I do like this - looks like he's appearing from the sea.

Great idea - and I love the creativity shown here. I can't decide about the fact that the man is semi-transparent against the water (maybe just a tad less so would be more effective?). Regardless, this is inventive and refreshing.

Good one. It looks a bit like crumpled paper.

I like how the texture showing through the figure makes him appear to be an apparition. Nice job! BTW, I believe that the underwater overlay is courtesy of SJCarter. :)

It's like he's imbedded in it or fossilized. COOL
