GREETINGS FROM "happy world of criticism club by mehmet"

this is nice composition but the lighting is not carefully set. a more dramatic lighting preferably from the sides would improve this image immensely. with this lighting scheme there are some unpleasent shadows in the wall and the object detail seems to have been sacrificed, leading to overexposure in least wanted areas.. nice try nevertheless.. keep shooting..

Bad Guess Svetlana! :) I wouldn't have had a shadow cast though ;)

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. lol, and for the discouraging ones too; hopefully I'll be a better photographer for it. :-)

It's not checkmate (that might have made a better conflict shot). The glares are a bit much also. Kill the glares and try it in B&W.

Like the idea (had it myself). Lighting seems a bit flat though and it lacks pop.

Excellent photo. Depicts "conflict" without depicting violence or anger. Nice placement of the pieces within the photo frame, good sharpness of the reflections, good lines and clarity. I'm not sure about the shadows behind the lieces, but I suspect they add depth to the picture rather than detract from it.

A little too much foreground I think

Nice image and depiction of conflict. My only comments are the strong lighting reflections on the pieces and the shadows. Absent those two things, this is a first rate shot.

Nice shot with good reflection and light. Might benefit from removing the shadows at the back; depth of field is hard to judge.

Nice reflections

triple, not tripple. the edges of the king are ill formed (needs a better word...jagged perahps) nice reflections, the lighting is too much fromthe perspective of the camera (reflections on the pieces should be off to one side a bit). the arrangement of the pieces leaves me abit cold too.

as predicted lots of chess shots - but I'm afraid this isn't very engaging.
02/25/2004 02:30:04 AM
Nice composition and reflections of the board on the background, but the overly harsh lighting blows out some of the detail of the pieces...

very harsh shadows against your background and there is a lot of wasted foreground space. I think tighter framing would make this image stronger.
