Today was not such a good day. I had to deal with some disappointment and overall suckiness of humanity.

I spent a lot of time sewing Magic Bags - fancy little bags I predominantly make around the holidays.

When I sew, I sit vis-a-vis a photo by Len Harris, a local photographer artist. The sun was getting low and I could see myself in the glass of the picture.

What I saw mirrored how I felt, so I photographed it.

In the back you see the back wall of my office with more photos - some mine, some from other local artists. And there is the shadow from the window, as well.

So this looks wildly layered, where in fact it's just one exposure. Processed with Lucis Exposure, increased saturation, sharpened, Perfectum, USM, put a frame around it for containment.

Here's another angle, pose and editing version:

It's amazing how different a picture can be when the camera's in a different spot just a couple of feet away.

What an emotive picture. Such happiness in the artwork and what sadness it seems that you are feeling. I hope you are feeling better.

Love all the layers -- it is so easy to get lost in your image.

I keep coming back here to comment on these photos and end up getting lost in them some more. I still don't know what to say; other than don't stop making them.
