Great capture of the moment, however photojournalistic shots like this one rarely score high on DPC. |

I like the moment of capture, but the technicals brought it down for me ... in particular, I thought the main subject was too dark in comparison to the tuba (trombone!) players in the far background. A tighter focus or crop on just him and the guy behind him might have fixed that, and also eliminated some of the dead space and distracting elements on the left. With just those two subjects you have a nice tight composition, and a great juxtposition between the guy madly texting on his phone and the other emphatically oom pah pah ing on his horn. |

A really nice festive shot and I like the fact that amidst all the noise and action someone found the necessity to make a text call (actually let me change that comment...I despair of the fact that he made the text but I love the fact that you captured it)
A super slice of life shot |

The guy with the phone is a bit dark and a general feeling of confusion but cool capture anyway. :) |

Love the tones and the shapes going on in the frame. I also think the moment is great. Probably slightly different framing/comp would have propelled this photo further, but the content of the image itself is excellent. |

Gave this a 4. Really busy, the guy with the pager seems to be the subject, at least according to your title, but he is in the shadow and not quite in focus. I am really picky about things not being in focus. |

I really like this - the lighting so subdued yet warm and inviting, the story of the tuba player waiting for the performance/ rehearsal, and the sousaphones in the background to frame the scene, all works really well together.
If I were to vote, I would have likely been a bit annoyed that you were looking for a trombone player rather than another tuba - because this looks a heck of a lot like a Tuba Christmas gig - NO TROMBONES ALLOWED!!!! LOL

I agree with you about being in the right place at the right time. I love to catch a moment like you did here. I think this should have scored much higher. |

Well I was one of your two 7s. I quite liked the moment. I think (and I've said this before) that we get so wrapped up in the beautifully crafted photograph here that we miss way too many moments. Technically, it could do with something to isolate your subject a bit better, or at least bring him out more. But I kinda like finding him without being shown. |

Since the musician whose instrument is on the ground seems to be your subject, I might have tried to dodge & burn this image to make him more of a focal point. |

Very nice busy composition. The shadows on the people in the foreground are a little overpowering. |

Saturation a pinch too high. And the shadows need opened up a bit. |
