 Well, since I have another entry getting absolutely beaten up by the DOF nazis, I figure I'd really tick 'em off with another shallow DOF entry... muwahahaha!!!!

I actually shot a different photo for this challenge, but as I was loading the shot off my camera (a mere 7 minutes before the close of the challenge) I noticed this test shot I did a few days ago. I was checking out my new 100mm prime & did a few shots of my wife's nick-nacks. Anyway, it at once appeared to me to epitomize the kind of things people do buy off of eBay.

I'm sure it will tank in the voting...

You know, I bet it is rare. It even has a little curly hair on it, which you don't see on your average penguin figurine, and it's little beak is broken (adds character, right?). You can find the darndest things on eBay!

Poor DOF kills this, I'm afraid. I won't ding you for the busted beak, though. That's just the nature of your purchase!

Complicated title. The colour of the background is quite similar to the hue of the main subject and given you have a crazy amount of DOF going on, the two blend together and the whole image appears to have a yellow/orange cast. Perhaps a more neutral or complementary colour for the background would have isolated the penguin more effectively.
