IMHO for a shot like this to work, you need to have a clean stove top. The rust and grease take away from the overall impact of the shot.

PS: Nice originality for the theme! |

Eeeek, clean the stove for a photo contest photo! I know it's hard to get off, but focus more on the coils then, get the grease out of the photo! |

Your cooker looks a little like mine, needs cleaning!
The background has a refelction that distracts me from the subject. The point of focus appears to be the front of the ring and I'd have liked to have seen it on the labe. A well cropped picture and I like the idea of fire, what is the bottle? |

The composition is good, but I cant decide whether I like the burner being 'dirty' or not - it does add color and some texture. I think the abstractness of it may have been better without the kettle too. As for meeting the challenge - well it's not fire but is heat so I'll give it an out of the box vote. |

Good macro, good burner color contrasted to the rest of the image. |

This isn't really inside the challenge, but it is a good idea. |

I see you house keep about as well as I do.....nice detail, no fire but what are you going to do....heat, flame, what is the difference. Put a piece a paper close to that baby and it is going to ignite, so the effect is the same. Guess the purists are hammering you by now....I won't. |

Not really what I consider fire, but I'd have probably given higher marks if you'd cleaned the drip pan first! |

A tighter crop would of done more for this shot. |

I think you could have been a little more daring here. The red coils don't even look that hot. For a fire challenge, I would expect flames or heat to be the dominant subject. Here, the esspresso label and the grease spots on the burner compete for your attention. |
