 I am the subject and the photographer. In the morning, I look lousy, so I decided to try a self-portrait. I found a rubber duck, lay on the bed, used a 24-85mm lens on my Nikon D200 and an SB800 flash. I got a new Sekonic light meter for Christmas, used that to check lighting (it works!), checked color balance with an Expodisc, held the camera as far away as I could and fired. It took about 80 tries to get this shot. I did very little to Photoshop the pictures except to saturate the duck and desaturate myself. It's not high art, but it was great fun.

He wants to go out for a swim. It's only 20 degrees outside. Weather's just starting to get nice.

Colors are a little on the flat side.

Looks a bit snapshottish to me. As if your dad/grandad/husband/whatever fell asleep and you took a sneaky picture with a rubber duckey. The picture lacks contrast and could have been enhanced by paying more attention to lighting and composition.

Oh, btw, the duck is for bathing. ;-)
