Yes, it does mean I will give up smoking and brown ribbon. This challenge was in 2007 I believe.

Congrats Whiterook! Starting the year with another one of your "infamous" finishes! Happy New Year!

The focus seems to be on the light blue background piece...

Totally OOF

I may be wrong ΓΆ€“ but assume the focus was to be on the ashtray.

imo, the lighting is not good and it's out of focus

Um - this was a Christmas gift?
What looks like the side of the refrigerator is in decent focus anyway.

Looks like you focused on the wall, not the ashtray

Subject OOF, sadly.

It might have made the picture a bit stronger if the cigar bud in the middle was better focused ...

why the focus is on the wall instead of the present? was it on purpouse? I would choose a slightly different angle, and try lighting up the cig, so that the there would be some action too IMHO

The focus seems to be better on the wall than on the ashtray.

If the ash tray is the subject, it should be in focus.

The in-focus background isn't that interesting.

My mom has a candy dish with a very similar pattern. I thought I had the brown ribbon for this challenge, but I see I have some stiff competition from this misfocused shot.

Could we have a little better focus? Not that the dirty polyboard wall isn't a great draw!

Quahog? Clams? Sea? Back focused? Cigarettes? Makes me think of Whiterook. :-)

Out of focus... Badly.
12/27/2007 01:13:35 PM
very out of focus
12/27/2007 10:24:28 AM
subject out of focus

Focus is on the wall and not on the object. Guessing you were too close for your lens. Maybe back off a bit and crop the result?

I would be good if it were in focus and the horizon was straight. I like the colors and the composition, but I can see any reason for the blur.

But you focused on the wall!

hmmmm, dirty object, clearly OOF, awkward and harsh lighting. Looks to me someone is aiming for brown here. :)

And if you don't, please read this as constructive feedback. ;)
12/27/2007 01:55:25 AM
wow, this isnt even in focus! ahha!
12/27/2007 12:11:40 AM
Item of interest should be in sharp focus, auto focussed on the wall behind.
