Challenge: Time Lapse (Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse")*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM
Date: Jan 5, 2008
Aperture: f8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/250
Date Uploaded: Jan 5, 2008

After a bit of hesitation I decided to enter what I thought was the safest idea to meet the challenge. Although it's not my cup of tea, I think it turned out well.
Editing was simple enough with Raw conversion adjustments and the merging of 4 shots which were sequential and in layers erasing the bits from each that overlapped. Hue and Sat adjustment and a little lightening via dodge and the regular levels and curves adjustments. Oh yes and some blurring in overlay mode for a smoother look with some minor cloning for the tiny flaws etc.
As an aside. I think this week's controversy over what's legal in this challenge was troubling. Some very nice people got shafted IMO and I lay the blame squarely on SC's shoulders for this one. If you're going to implement anything new, then do your homework first and save alot of very busy people alot of wasted time.

scalvert: this is definitely natural. he even has Newton in the title. I feel so strange...

sher: what is it?

scalvert: I... I feel this strange excitement...

sher: okay... I've heard enough...

GeneralE: the man really loves physics.

Nice contrast in this one. I don't like the end balls being cut off much. Interesting reflections.

Very simple, yet powerful. One part of the world can move two others. The only thing I would critique is the flash shows in the bulb and the shadows below it.

I like the colour of the reflection on the balls here.

This is a cool idea, though it really is not very effective indisplaying motion or change.

I realize the idea here and love it but the image hardly portrays "motion". But not to worry, that's alright though! I'll still give it an 8. Nice sharp detail. BB

Some mothers do 'ave 'em. I presume you will be expounding on the calculus and laws of motion in your how-to tutorial.

it's very hard to discern that this is a time lapse photo. it could easily be mistaken as stop motion, i think. also something about how it looks from the bottom half of the balls down does not seem right. it was a good idea.

Possibly the sharpest image ever to be dislayed on my monitor!!

Great time-lapse entry! Love how the balls have a blue tint to them -- it gives the image such punch. Very nice!

Is this even more than one image? Be interesting to read your notes after the challenge. Good looking minimalist type of shot.

beautiful. this draws me in completely. would have been nice though to not have the balls cut off at the edges.

Technically very good. I also love the subtle, yet vibrant color. I can't really think of anything to improve this, except maybe getting rid of the glare on the balls.

This is great. There isn't much more I can say about it than that and the 8 I am giving it.

nice one... although you have to know what one is to appreciate the time-lapse element here...

There's a lot to like about this photo. I do wish that it wasn't so close cropped, to at least see the top of the cradle. Very appealing as it is though.. I like it a lot.
