 This is the same location as a few other entries I put on here. It's nestled down in the trees and especially during winter it is so calm and still, especially after a new snow. There is just enough current however that it remains unfrozen all winter. Even with sub-zero temperatures.

Processing:
-This is an HDRi made from 6 bracketed exposures, created and tonemapped in Photomatix. In Photoshop then I desaturated a bit to make it look more realistic. The snow didn't turn out white from photomatix so I pasted in one of the 6 photos where the snow was exposed for the white and masked it into the tonemapped image. The last step was to use levels to darken the blacks of the image. Then resize, USM, border, Save for web.

I don't really like the small amount of halos around the tops of the trees but I didn't quite know how to get rid of them. I also didn't want an "over-processed" look if I was to use an HDR method. In the end then I'm fairly pleased with this photograph.

Your picture is definitely well done, of course the halos are a problem but get rid of those and it will be top notch!

to get rid of halos in photoshop you can use the clone tool in darken mode so it will only effect the sky and not the branches. use a largeish brush at a low opacity and you can get a really good result very quickly. of course you could also clone it onto a new layer so its non destructive as well...

The sky and water look as though there was a nasty bit of burning done, resulting in some weird halos around the trees but otherwise I like it.
