Went on a hunt for a River today for this weeks challenge, but found something so much more marvellous.

At Yarra Bend Park in Kew, Melbourne, we happened upon thousand upon thousands of Flying Foxes (Bats) hanging from our native trees.

I could barely believe my eyes - they were EVERYWHERE - it was magnificent.

That's incredible, I'm not sure if I would've liked to have actually seen that or not, kinda creepy & cool all at the same time.

Holy Batman!!! I've never in my life seen anything like this!! Simply amazing. Way cool.....now if you can sneak back at dusk and capture them in flight, but that might be dangerous! Thanks for sharing this fantastic find.

I am happy to look at them but I am not a fan of them flying around me in the evening or night time. Great shot and a wonderful find.

Wow, there are so many of them that I actually didn't spot them in the first place. (That sounds silly, I know).

Oh My Gawd!!! That is just totally incredible!!! What a find - it's completely fascinating - thanks for sharing that with us. I bet it's a sight when they collectively decide to fly up and away.

That is awesome nature! Good for you for making the decision to go there when you did. It's also good that there are no flying cows in Aussie land. : )

Very nice! The problem with bats, though, is once they wake up and start flying, they are IMPOSSIBLE to shoot. But a blast to watch just the same!
