Charlene - this is very cool. What a good idea. It gives a sense of sudden abandonment. Maybe they were snatched up by aliens? Or worse? The BW and intense contrast add to the feel of this image. I think it's brilliant. |

This isn't just "another" swing - doesn't anyone remember swinging so hard and fast, getting up speed, and then LAUNCHing off? We used to play games to see how far we could launch. This is the best way to show that supremely childhood activity without including the child. I can easily imagine the child, out of shot on the right, in a crouch after having just landed, as the seat has moved into the backswing. Easily the best conceptual shot, and the best swing shot (because of the story it tells) of this challenge. |

I didn't vote or enter in this challenge but I will say that I had a pic ready to go - and it was of a swing! lol I like how you have the top of the swing coming diagonally into the picture. I also like the criss-cross of the moving swings. Parts of the seats do blend into the background, but what ya gonna do? I also like the contrast of the ground - it really brings out the texture of the wood shavings. |

the "merging" is what's good about it. exciting diagonal composition. the swings are almost lost in the darkness of memory. |

Nice shot. I like the motion of the swing. I think this works well in B/W. |

Boy I read all of Nutzitos comments and it almost made me feel guilty for really liking the shot exactly as it is!
I appreciate that a lot of people did use swings but I thought the motion on this shot helped set it apart from others. I can just imagin some kid flying through the air screaming Wheeee as they catapult themselves from the swing
Really nice job and another good finish |

It must have been a great idea if so many minds thought in that direction. I like the B&W and I enjoyed reading all of nutzito's comments. Nice job Charlene. |

Too bad it was the same idea used by a few others. I am sure that has afected the score.
About possible improvements:
*better if one of the leather seats was not intersecting one of the poles.
*a bit shallower dof to isolate the main subject a bit more from the bg.
*duotone works fine but it eliminates the use of color to isolate main subject from bg, so some S/H adjustment could have been made to avoid the merging.
*a little tighter crop on top and left would have helped to get more detail at 640px dpc.

The moving swings are very well place, but it is hard to see them against the dark background of the trees. |

I really like this picture! I love how it's in black and white but it is kind of hard to see the swing. It blends into the trees a little to much but other wise i really like it! Good Job! |

If you had a pair of feet coming out of the left side of the frame I'd be on the floor laughing. |

Another swing. Tones having been pushed quite hard making the entire image quite gritty, but that isn't a bad thing here. Well composed. |

This must be a tough capture to get, but probably due to the BW, the swings do not stand out in front of the background. Did the contrast show up well in the coloured version? |
