Those great blue herons are certainly a treat when you get close enough to see how huge they are. Most shots don't capture their size very well, this one does. We are lucky to have some many in Washington. Terrific capture. |

This remains a stunning shot, beautifully processed and with a great title and 80th place doesn't do it credit. Glad to see Posthumous coming through with the red ribbon - it's well deserved.

Has this bird just fallen out of the 'Ugly Tree' ? Cos if he did he's sure hit a lot of branches on the way down :- ) |

Wonderful bird and background for this concept. Tones are wonderfully rich and the bird is in perfect position in the frame. Very nice lighting, too. |

Almost looks like a nightmare! Very eerie feel to it - and a great pose from the bird! |

Yes, very prehistoric looking! Lovely in flight capture, that can't be easy. |

This is a very cool capture. It suffers from lack of processing - such as lightening and intensification of colors with a levels adjustment layer, and a bit of sharpening. |

a 10 straight across the board, totally fabulous capture, well done.
I hace come back to add to his picture. The blues are intense, the legs are primeval, the shape of his wings whilst it is beating has created such a huge concave there that your eyes are drawn to them and certainly would be more drawn to them than just being straight out in flight. This was a brilliant shot, I totally love it. |

Highly unusual pose and sympathetic PP - caught my eye and the title works too. |
