I learned several things while shooting for this challenge:

1. Nuthatches never stop moving.
2. Nuthatches are pretty. I like nuthatches.
3. Nuthatches never stop moving. Never.

Would have liked the bird to be a bit sharper, but...pretty bokeh, eh?

Wow, I'll say the bokeh is pretty! Very interesting and different composition. Nice job! Your humor shines through in your comments. :)

I liked seeing this one during the challenge. After having TRIED to take pictures of small and fast moving birds, I had a greater appreciate for those who managed to do it so well. The blue is beautiful! I also love the simplicity of the photo and the bokeh background!

The bokeh on this is absolutely gorgeous. Bummer that the nuthatch never quit moving :-) He's a touch soft, as you realize. Maybe a higher ISO next time? If he were sharp this one might have made the front page. Really lovely.

An important tip for you for next time, nuthatches don't ever stop moving...

Great image - i love the warm and rich background to contrast the tree and bird - and I think you did an impressive job of it with the shutter speed you had to work with...next time try upping the ISO a bit to allow you a bit faster speeds

Karen, I love, love, love this photo. The bokeh is gorgeous and the tree and little nuthatch are in such sharp contrast to the rosy back drop. Don't you wish the whole world was like that beautiful background?!

Very nice shot. This is actually very strange. My entry was of a chickadee, and one that I almost entered was of a nuthatch! I will post the outtake for you tomorrow. :)

I love watching these little guys go up and down the trunks. This shot is very out of focus, plus the background is too bright and the colors in the background detract from the bird and last of all he is too small in the frame.

Wild bokeh. Kind of overpowers your birdie though. Had he been tack sharp he would have stood against it better. In general though a very pleasing image.

love the simplicity and the soft muted colours in this one, the blues pop against the pink in the background 9

Aw, it's a little Nuthatch! I love those guys. Very nice pinks and greens to set him off and nice composition. A little more detail on him (especially a catchlight in the eye) would make this even better, IMO.
