I thought this was a darn good shot. I knew that it would get hammered in voting and DNMC's but it is because it isn't a literal photo of a bird. Thumbs up for you for running with your take on the challenge theme. : ) |

Sheesh . .
Did it meet the challenge ? Clearly not.
Is it a good phot ? Clearly yes.
36 1's ? Well I guess those were DNMC's . .
But the 2's 3's and 4's ? What were they about ?
Technically a great shot, and a title that did enough for me to slide it into the challenge :- ) |

Again, let me say this was truly and outrageously underrated. I could see the connection even without the title. What I truly don't understand is the 36 ones, sheeeeeeesh. |

Wonderful shot, but even I have to day DNMC. I'd have voted it high, though, had I voted. |

I know you're going to get a buch of DNMC, but I like it.
I like the way her hair looks like she's a bird flying. I'm giving it top scores.
Good luck |

Sorry - I just don't feel this meets the challenge by description. |

I love this shot. I really don't think it meets the challenge in the least but I don't really care. I like to look at pretty pic's - that's part of why I play on this site - and this is a pretty pic! Love the blur and the color. I gi9ve it a 9 to help counter the DNMCers! : ) |

This is actually quite a good photo. Good composition, color, movement and so on. But I'm not seeing the direct relevance to the challenge theme. |

No vote just leaving a comment I have stared, I have thought, I have wondered. I can see the connection to the challenge in a metaphoric kind of way. But I have to wonder how the voters will respond. I like the shot very cool, very clean, but its subjective if it meets the challenge and to me it doesnt. The challenge is pretty clear, take a photo where bird or birds is your main subject. |

interesting take on the challenge - in some ways things like skating probably are as close as we get to soaring like a bird. Maybe she could get even closer to soaring if you cought her some in-line skates :- ) |

This is a good photo, even if it is shoehorned into this challenge. |

A fantastic picture but just a little too much out of the box IMO---a REALLY great shot though!!! |

Of course, others will score you low because this isn't a "bird". But it's all about imagination, isn't it? ...And you've captured it quite nicely. 9 |

From a technical standpoint, the tack-sharp panning on the right skate is quite impressive, so kudos on that accomplishment.
I'm torn on how to rate this. One the one hand, it's quite a good photo. On the other, it doesn't strictly meet the definition of the challenge, and though the title makes the connection, this is a photo contest, not a title contest.
The girl's pose is more reminiscent of a runner than a bird... if the left arm was more fully outstretched, you might have me on that. Ordinaly I halve the score for a DNMC entry. I'm going to do that here, but add back a point for making me think outside the box, ending up at 5. Had you saved this for the Free Study, you would have received an 8 from me. |

I try not to use this often, but seriously: DNMC. Maybe if in some fashion the skater's pose was bird-like, but that's not the case here. That said, nice sense of motion and I really like the dark blue background. |

This is a really cool shot. I'm guessing the metaphorical bird isn't scoring well, though. I see the bird, so you'll get a decent score from me. |

If she goes really, really fast, she just might achieve take-off! A friend told me that he told his young children that if they ran hard enough, and flapped hard enough, they could fly. But he warned them in a long lecture just how far they were allowed to go, and not to fly out of the neighborhood. They apparently tried all afternoon. |

Why didn't you enter a photo of a bird? |

Intriguing use of motion blur and I'm interested in how the front skate has stayed sharp. Classic rule-of-thirds composition and a strong blue-to-white contrast (leggings to rink and sleeves to background) make this a graphically strong image. You certainly convey the desire for speed and flight, and although the link to the challenge may not be strong enough for many this remains an excellent image that you should be proud of. |

Cool shot in general. A bit of a stretch for the challenge but I can see where you are coming from. Bumping up 2 as I may have been a bit harsh first vote through. I do love the blur. |

Umm, the skate is in focus and it is out of the box which is brilliant. I can see where the movement in this relates to the challenge. |
