What great detail showing on this little guy! I'm not fond of the amount of empty space you left in the frame, but that's more of a preference on my part than a fault of your entry. |

Has a kinda wistful feel to it. I like the subdued nature of the shot a lot. |

Focus is ok and the composition is ok but I think with backlighting you need to lighten it up a bit. Also the catchlight in the eye is weak. God catchlight really adds life to animal portraits. |

A Red-bellied Woodpecker! One my my favorite dumb bird names; did they somehow miss seeing that distinctive red on his head?!
I digress. Nice detail and nice angle to the composition. Background sets him off well. Could maybe stand a bit of dodging on his chest to really bring him out, but nice capture overall. |
