This is my dad making jalapeno cheeze sausage at the table.....

It seems like there are some fans of homemade sausage here at DPC (judgeing by the blue ribbon on my "normal" old ways photo!) so I thought I would give you some more information :) First, here is the winning shot with the original straight from the camera version:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/0-999/808/120/639809.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/0-999/808/120/639809.jpg', '/') + 1) . '' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643671.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643671.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
As you can see the white balance is all funky in the original, but I was shooting for b/w (RAW original though) for this challenge anyway so I didn't really worry about it. We have a door just behind me that I opened for light which mixed with the regular lighting. I converted to b/w using Photoshop cs's "black and white" command, applied a smart sharpen filter and saved for web.

And here are some other photos that tell more of the story...

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643672.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643672.jpg', '/') + 1) . '' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643665.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643665.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643666.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643666.jpg', '/') + 1) . '' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643667.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/65000-69999/68256/120/643667.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

And here is the recipe..

3 lbs venison
1 lbs pork (boston butt)
1 lb chedar cheeze
10 fresh jalapenos
4 tbs Cilantro
1/2 cup paprika
2 tbs salt
3 tbs sugar
2 tbs garlic powder

Clean and de-seed jalapenos and grind with meat.
Mix all other ingredients together with meat.
Stuff into hog casings.

Enjoy!

No doubt a brilliant shot ! ..am just curious .. how would it have been in color and using iso 80 instead of 400 for your settings ?

This is an amazing picture with wonderful values, but the background is somewhat awkward and bland. but the fore- and middlegournd is amazing.

Possible (IMO) the best image in terms of meeting the descrition and the idea of the challenge. When you add thisto the very strong balck and white conversion and the wordless story that the sausage makers face and arms tells it all combines to make a genuinely outstanding image. Bumping to 10 and I hope this does brilliantly for you

In contrast to the old saying, this doesn't look nearly as frightening as watching Congress in session . :-)

Oh yes, now that is what I am talking about, my favorite meal. Oh the photoo, hehe fabulous details that pop out at you, the textures of this are great, the namd, the smoothness of the meat, the roundness of his mincer. Very good 10
