I wasn't even going to enter this challenge, but then I noticed my cats had pushed this horse around as though repositioning it, so I took it upstairs.
First shot done in my home studio where, perhaps luckily, I haven't yet changed the colours of the walls! The horse is an old spring-horse that I found by the side of the road. Light are 60w, one with a diffuser on it, the other clamped to the edge of the door and shining down.

I can't believe this scored under 5. I admit I'm not crazy about shots of things, but as thing-shots go, this is a good one. The composition has some energy, one can imagine the horse actually running into the frame. The lighting is warm and three-dimensional. There is a glow of child-worship about it.
Uh-oh, I just convinced myself that I underrated this picture, too. |

Nice warm colors. I think it would have scored better if the whole horse would have been in it. Just my 2cents. |

Whites are a little blown out on the horse. |

I love the way you used the colors; even though they are fairly close to each other on the color spectrum they each stand out without one overtaking over the other. |

This would really be set off with a darker background I think. |
