the "fuzzy" outline is a result of a very shalow DOF. yes. the f was 5.6 but i was really close to the bird and the shot was taken with a 500mm lens.
DOF determined by the f number + lens mm + distance from your subject. its not a fixed amount it changes...

Question.... i see that the outline of the bird is "fuzzy" and i wonder why? The dof was 5.6 so that cant explain it. So what does? I didn't vote in this challenge, but a 1 and a 2??? come on! I think a crisper outline might have made the picture even better. How do you think that could have been achieved?

Delightful colours and detail.

I guess slightly debatable whether this is more of a portrait of the parrots head than a shot about eyes - but a very nice shot.
