Challenge: Reflections Without Mirrors (Classic Editing)
Camera: Sony DSC-F707
Location: My Livingroom
Date: Sep 27, 2002
Aperture: F8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1 Second

I set my Nikon 35mm on a tripod and placed a sheet of black poster board behind it. I used two clamp lights for lighting.. one to the right of the camera and another to the left.. the overhead light was also on for this shot. I put my digital camera on the a tripod and composed the shot. I let the timer take the photo while I positioned myself for the reflection in the Nikon lens. I put a polarizing filter on the Nikon to create a better reflecting surface. The 'noise' that you see in the reflection is not reflection.. it's the lens elements of the camera showing through the polarizing filter.

Very cool concept. Excellent DOF. I wish there weren't a glare over your face, but it doesn't ruin it for me. Good shot. 7, just-married

I like your concept and your picture.

Great idea, superbly doneâ€Â¦ Just the right level of lighting to give the shot a really spooky appearance. The only improvement I could possibly suggest here relates to the word Nikon. Because it also reflects the background, it does detract from the within notion - but I haven't a clue as to how you could have prevented that. Aside from the really trivial point, it's a great shotâ€Â¦ (9)

would crop the top to bring attention the the frount of the lens and the reflection

maybe the reflection would not have been so dark had you used more light on the face? i found it helpful to light my reflected scene completely separately from the rest of the image.. i very much like the mood this conveys and the pertinence to the challenge! mag99

Wonder if this violates not showing the camera. <grin> Good pic

I really like this idea. Technically, it is very good. The lighting and focus are right on. The crop seems a little too tight for my personal taste tho, and I don't like seeing the inside of the camera. Was it really impossible to create a strong enough reflection so that you could avoid that? Maybe different lighting or something? I guess not. *sigh* ~indi

Very unique and interesting. A little eerie! But it's a great photo and a great reflection. I like how the face is positioned in the lens.

Very cool. If it weren't so dark, this would be a 10 for creativity alone. Is the lens chipped? 9 Swash

The face looks too dark and kinda blurry, nice.

Kind of spooky, creative work. Score 8 Justine

"Dont show the camera in the shot" lol, just kidding. Nice photo, good idea, but I think it could be improved if the reflection was not doubled, and if those scratches weren't there.

I'm sorry, the challenge specifically says I should NOT see your camera... The Nikon is CLEARLY visable!
