You know what Ganders again I think I saw some of your work before or someone here with work that has screwed up angles just something missing that completes the image. Here though the angle is messed up I admit you could crop at the top a bit more or expand on the view by adding the ceiling plus maybe show more of a dynamic break between one of the sets of pillars to really set the mood with the colors and the person. I think its a wonderful portrait. Don't worry what other say its beautiful with what you have as far as the idea goes for being a portrait I can offer you several photographers you might wish to look at. Andrea Kerteze, harry calhand, william eggleston, and there are a few more but those are some photographers you might take a look at for perspective. Thank You for the delightful portrait. You have given more than even the winner of the blue ribbon gave. Oh if you do take another picture similar to this one and you are think possibly color and place the person with a brighter color like red or orange or purple that stands out with the sort of lighting offered it would be even more power and prestigiously awesome. Thank you once again.

Odd "portrait"

1 - artsy ... but not really a portrait

Nice shot and creative attempt, but I think a portrait ought to give me a sense of the person being photographed, and I don't get that here.

this is an interesting candid...not a portrait.

I am not sure that this qualifys as a portrait for me, but photowise it is not too bad. Needs work on the horizon line ( a litle skewed) a slightly different angle to maybe get the pillars almost looking like mirror images, may have given a better impression to me

although I like this as a candid shot, I like a portrait to give me some kind of look at the person...I cant tell anything at all about your model by looking at this

Does not meet the challenge.

I like the shapes - the semicircle of the bushes, the strong lines of the steps, columns and bench. And I like the feeling of contemplation/ rest.
Not sure you picked a very nice model ;)

Nicely done. However, does not fit my interpretation of a Portrait. Guess I am a traditionalist. BOL

this isn't a portrait.

I like the lonely feel of this type of shot. I do think the bottom crop could of been better along with the slight tilt to the right.

Although this is a nicely taken shot, I'm at a loss to see what this is a portrait of.
03/15/2004 06:26:34 AM
this isn't personal enough to feel like a portrait to me, and there's not a lot of contrast... seems flat

Yes, it tells a story and we learn a little about the subject - but I would like to know more.
