A really fun night of shooting with Aran and Guy from the Cambridge University Fire Troupe. So glad I found some fire spinners in Cambridge :)
Anyway, this pic is Guy spinning poi by the river. The tricky bit was adjusting the aperture so the flames have enough detail but not too many blown highlights - since the flames gradually get smaller and smaller, it's something you have to keep on adjusting.
Editing: levels, curves, hue/sat, bits of dodging, cloned out a couple of small light spots, a low opacity screen layer, sharpening, and, um, think that's about it...
Lets see how this does :) I like it, but then, I like fire. |

I liked the shapes and the large amount of black. But I think many voters don't like the main parts to be separated by so much empty space. Your choice of aperture was perfect. |

Hi,
Very nice image, I particularly like the way you captured the motion and reflection here, must have had a hell of a time getting it done. Your exposure seems to be just right & the focus nice and sharp, a nice job was done here conveying motion. The one thing I kept coming back to was the dead space, it just took to much of the image in my humble opinion. But overall this is a great image. |

So elegant and simple! I really like this idea ... much more creative than many in the challenge. |
