Lovely. (I would guess all your 1 to 4 votes are from the great majority who cannot deal with dark. I think it is a "thang" with them).

Wow what a very underrated photo IMO. For how dark it is there is an amazing amount of detail. Votes show 18 other people were able to see this for what it actually is....perfect. Very nice too bad for the score. Scott

I have to comment that my lcd monitor is calibrated using a Spyder 3 pro, and the image is just barely visible. I can see the highlight on the nose but have to stare to see anything else. So I am guessing that those who are using an lcd monitor that is set to be too bright (and lots of lcd monitors are set to be too bright) can see it, but the rest can't. :(

I do wish it was a bit brighter so that I could see this image because it sounds wonderful. :)

I can see this just fine on my work monitor - I suspect on my home monitor I might have trouble with it. The concept is excellent - a baby peacefully sleeping in the dark - and would NOT work as well if it were more strongly lit. The problem with the internet is everyone's monitors will vary. This is one of those shots that will have a lot more impact printed, when everyone can view it the same. I really like your choice to enter this, though I sympathize with your score.

This picture is beautiful. Wide open to dpc mockery, for sure, but it has to be the way it is to be what it is.

As usual, the 'I can't see' comments say at least as much about the eye and the beholder as they do the beheld.

I wanna be reborn and go to sleeeeeep!

I'm one of those for whom it looks completely black on one monitor, and the image is clearly visible (though dim) on another. I have to say though, that when I got it on a monitor where I could see it, I'm amazed at the range of detail in the tones - it's like the image holds a hidden treasure. Seek and ye shall find. :) I really like that aspect of it, but agree with Juli that for the Peace challenge at least, having to hunt the image to find the image doesn't engender a peaceful feeling, and so might have run counter to any other expression of peace in the image, for the typical viewer.

I calibrated mine last night and it looks just fine without adjusting gamma and backlighting.

Well I have to say that this does not deserve to score a 3+. I did give this a 5 tho because on my monitor, it's way too dark. You can tell that there is a sweet, peaceful face there and I think your shutter speed was just too fast for this moment.

Very good choice of subject for peace. (I had no ideas at all.) I like the idea that this is night, but the image is really too dark. It requires the viewer to strain in order to see the subject -- thus not a peaceful experience.

shrouded in sleep, very peaceful, zzzzzz

Now then, had I voted on this one in my lunch hour at work, I would have been stumped as the screen appeared completely black - on my home laptop, though, the sleeping baby is perfectly obvious. I like the tight framing, and the darkness seems appropriate to the image of the sleeping child, although you have perhaps opted for slightly too dark an exposure.

An brilliant idea for another place I think but in terms of photography perhaps not. Perhaps I'm just old fashioned.

I initially looked at this on my uncalibrated monitor at work and it has problems at the blank end. This photo actually looked completely black and I thought it was a joke. Was surprised when I went to vote on my home computer that there was actually something there. Even so, it is still way too dark for my taste.

This picture is a liitle dark, but the idea and setting fit well. This value is well done.

Hate to give an image of such a sweet baby a low vote, but this is really dim.

This picture is too dark, you can barely make out the subject. Using a flash, or lighting the subject would have been better.

This photo is very dark. If you are trying to shoot without using flash, try adjusting the ISO (if you can) and using a larger aperature to let more light in. Beautiful baby!

Might be partly my monitor, but this is WAY dark. Almost can't see anything at all. Needs some contrast.

almost looked like a black square to me. those with darker monitors might not be able to see the face, but i like the subtelty.

I'm sure most of your comments will say "too dark" but this is dark for a reason and it works for me.

I give you a lot of credit for entering such a dark shot. You're probably getting a low score (hopefully not!) and comments about it being too dark, and yet it fits this photo just right. This is subtlety done right.

I see what you were trying to do here, which is a nice idea.

I would have liked this photo better if it wasn't quite so zoomed in... Let's say if you could see the baby sleeping in it's crib.

I like low key shots, but this is really, really, really low key.

Too dark, in my opinion... and the shine on the nose is distracting to me.

When I first saw this, I didn't realize there was anything there. Just a big black rectangle. When going back over all the entries, I noticed a lighter spot, so I blew it up to look closer.... Anyway -- nice concept, but really too dark. I bet a lot of people will just see a big black rectangle, like I originally did.
