a dq story & a warning
my advice to anyone who is doubtful that their entry will be validated is to send the original and processed image to the site council so they can make an informed judgement .

i contacted the site council for advice on this image twice ..
both times i was reassured .....

i asked if i could use hue/sat and lighten the blue and they said that was fine ..
in my ignorance i lightend the yellow, red and cyan as well .. this is the action that got me the dq ..
i didnt realise that lightening the other colours would very nearly desaturate the image because the VISIBLE difference was virtually indistinguishable before & after the action ..
this is the image before the offending action .. and this would have been validated ..

& oversaturated to show that there is heaps of colour still in the image before i applied that hue/sat layer and lightened the colours ..

i was very upset & shocked that this got the dq especially after asking the site council for their advice and being reassured ..
it was a case of too little informaton coming from both sides ..
from me when i lightend not only the blue but the other colours as well, and from them because i feel they should have warned me that in lightening colours in hue/sat it actually desaturates them, which i didnt know .. but of course looking back, they didnt know that i didnt know .. !!!.:)

This is a really tough DQ, Roz. But the picture holds it's own and is fantastic no matter what happens at DPC.

Such a striking image, and such a sad DQ. I actually like this photo a little more after reading this story.

Aw Roz!! I just saw this - it's horrible. Second time now that you've fallen victim of some bizarre communication - or lack thereof - what a shame. Don't be discouraged, though. For one, this is a brilliant image, regardless of the DQ and whether it was justified or not. This is an island, but your images reach far beyond nitpicky stuff like why this entry was disqualified.

Onward, sister!! You are an inspiration to us all!

OXOXO Alicia

Roz, I really do feel on you on your DQ. I thought this was a carcking shot and I loved the PP on the dress that gave it a real luminous glow.

Not a 'pretty' picture, but then despair seldom is, but very sympathetically portrayed. Dramatic without sinking into melodrama

Regardless of the fact that this got DQ's you should be very proud of another great image

Excellent idea -- and PERFECT execution! This is truly genius the way you protected any amount of color from showing through in the photo. This is one of the few that truly meets the challenge in every way -- and in such a creative haunting way! Bravo!

I gave you a 9...although I see many people giving you 10's for some reason. The only thing for ME keeping you from a 10 is that the clothes and shower don't seem to go well together, especially the gloves. That's just my take, but otherwise a beautiful shot.

Yes - weird, but certainly really well done! Had to wait for the title to understand the image, but you have completely tricked the eye into thinking this is a B+W. Well done.

What a beautiful shot. Excelent work. The detail on the dress is amazing. It almost feels like a dream (or a nightmare)!

Interesting setup, but it just seems weird that someone in a gown would be in the corner of a shower. Good sharpness though.
